Fusio Group

With one of my friends, Laszlo Studniczky ‚Zsatyi‘ we contrived to create a band in 1992 that was similar to those days’ Chick Corea Electric Band. I’ve started to write own compositions and after lots of rehearsals and trough many many experimentations it started to set slowly. We learned a lot during that time, and our band was showing its image slowly. This style did not change radically over the years, even though we are not playing the same kind of songs nowadays and a few band members have been changed since then, too.

The present lineup has been working together for more than seven years now. We play my own compositions and arrangements. Fusio Group is already over four recordings, our last album was released in the summer of 2007 titled ‚Stickman‘ (Tom-Tom Records). Among all our recordings we like this album the most. Each song has its own unique character, but the album still has a unified sound and style due to all those years we have been playing together.

This kind of Jazz-Fusion is really my favorite style of music. I believe, I‘ve listened this kind of music possibly the most. The high-level instrumental knowledge plays as important a role in this music as free improvisation and creativity. It gives a lot of opportunities for a musician who is eager to play exciting and colorful music without any restrictions.

The band:

ISTVAN ELEK – SAXOPHONE
JANOS KORMOS – GUITAR
ARON ROMHÁNYI – KEYBOARD
TAMAS BARABAS – BASS
PETER SZENDOFI – DRUMS, COMPOSER

Loop Doctors

Aron and me are very open and concerned for any kind of new stream and undiscovered areas of music. A few years ago we had the idea to create a (what we call) cyber-jazz duo to use the elements of most electric streams Drum’n‘ Bass, Jungle, Breakbeat and Rap.

This Loop Doctors project is fully based on electric elements and effects, what we created together. I use a sampler pad to start and change the sequencer programs. It is not necessary to record all programs in full length I can change and revise everything during gigs. Thanks to this we are able to make lots of improvisations.

It is very exciting and challenging for me, that first time in my life I have to play without the restrictions of previous musical streams. During playing I have to keep track of something totally different, electronic music genre’s rules. New dimensions open up that way for me. Sometimes it feels like that this is the first time on a drum set for me that is how new this milieu is for me. I like it a lot.

We recorded the ‚High Voltage‘ album in the Spring of 2006, and we invited one of my favorite bass players, Gary Willis. His extraordinary open personality and interest of progressive things added a lot to this album. We were familiar of his play and style, but were introduced to a totally new side of him during recording. It was an amazing experience! In some tunes the Loop Doctors’ album is featuring Kornél Fekete Kovacs on trumpet and Orsi Pflum on vocals, as well.

Transition

We had lots of gigs in several bands together with my keybordplayer Robi Szakcsi, but we did not play in each other’s own formations yet. We are really on the same wave-length with regard to improvization and time, amd that we have both noticed separately.

We formed a group in the summer of 2007. The speciality of this band is that everyone is not just only a musician but also a composer. Thanks to that fact the tunes are as various as the sound. We only had a few gigs since then, but the audience seems to be enjoying the shows.

I am glad that we created this formation. All their playing is inspiring me a lot. We are working on our first recording, which will be due next year.

The band:

ROBI SZAKCSI – PIANO, KEYBOARDS
ARPAD DENNERT – TENOR & SOPRANO SAXOPHONES, EWI
GERGO MITS – BASS
PETER SZENDOFI – DRUMS

Romhányi Trio

My friend, Aron Romhanyi invited me to play in his newly formed trio a few years ago. I gladly joined the trio, because I really enjoy playing with the other two musicians. We had several opportunities to play on stage with each other prior to this band and have worked on different music projects together.

The trio’s repertoire consists of compositions and arrangements written by Aron. In the beginning we played mostly in the traditional Bebop and Afro-Cuban Latin jazz and recorded the first album ‚Passion and Purity‘ in 2004. For the next fall we are planning to record our next album with more modern compositions and arrangements. If everything works out well then for the recording we will be able the invite a special and amazing star musician, whose name I will not blab out yet.

We have been through a few gigs with the trio and the three different character and musical attitude complement each other very well. Everybody is explosive and emotional in this band, which is probably the most emphasized characteristic of the trio.

The trio:

ARON ROMHANYI – PIANO
GERGELY MITS – BASS
PETER SZENDOFI – DRUMS

Szubjektív Panasz

This band was formed in the summer of 2006. The idea of putting a rock band together popped out of me and my friend Zoli ‚PIPI‘ Sipeki‘s brain. I was alwalys a fan of rock music, but somehow I’ve never been involved in anything like this.

Very rocky rhythm bases and varied themes characterize the Subjective Sympton’s sound.
The scale of the tunes is wide, from the most ferocious rock and dynamic sound all the way to the lyricism and more tender tunes. We play own compositions contrived by PIPI and I also have a few compositions. We are so enthusiastic and enjoy the gigs. Sometimes we start rehearsals at 1 am...

We recorded our first album ‚Prelude‘ in February 2007, released at Hunnia Records. I have never played that loud in my life as on that one recording. A whole set of drumheads landed in the trash can.

This album is only instumental. The songs are diverse and we have tried to get the most out of the classic drum-bass-guitar lineup so that the sound would not be so conventional. Despite this album is not an „instrumental bluster“ everybody has a chance to show what knowledge they have got.

After launching the album, Patrik Bozsik the singer joined forces with the trio, and he will be the leader from now. We have created a lot of songs that will be introduced with English lyrics to the fans.

The band:

ZOLTAN „PIPI“ SIPEKI – GUITARS
PATRIK BOZSIK – VOCALS
GERGO BARANYI – BASS
PETER SZENDOFI – DRUMS

E.K. Avenue

The band was formed in April, 2009.

Their wide repertoire contains not only well-known jazz standards, but songs from the biggest names of the 80's and 90's such as Eric Clapton, The Brand New Heavies, Michael Jackson, etc.

Erika's unique, relaxed, laid-back style, her soothing mezzo range, the melancholy sincerity of her interpretations, the pure intonation, the clarity of her English pronunciation always enchants the audience. She also composes songs and writes English lyrics.

All the members of the band are acknowledged musicians in Hungary, with numerous professional awards.

Band members:

ERIKA KERTESZ – VOCALS
ROBERT RATONYI JR. – KEYBOARDS
GYORGY FREY – BASS
